Nicole A. Milam

Nicole Milam is an associate attorney at Richardson, Whitman, Large, and Badger. Nicole is a trial attorney whose practice is devoted to litigation of both criminal and family matters. Nicole has broad experience in civil litigation as well as an active criminal defense practice ranging from misdemeanors to felony charges. In addition to criminal defense, Nicole has devoted much of her practice to representing clients in the areas of divorce, child custody, and protection from abuse and harassment cases.

Nicole’s energetic personality pushes her to provide diligent and zealous legal representation to all her clients, regardless of the legal challenge presented. As the areas of family and criminal law often overlap, especially in protection from abuse and harassment cases, Nicole’s background uniquely situates her to provide thoughtful legal advice. Nicole approaches each case with empathy, strategy and assertiveness.

Nicole has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Pennsylvania State University. During undergraduate studies, Nicole took courses focused on child development, neuropsychology and clinical psychology. She earned her law degree from the University of Maine School of Law where she served as a student attorney for the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic and worked as an intern at the Department of Homeland Security in Washington, DC. During law school, Nicole also worked for several small criminal firms in southern Maine. Immediately after graduating from law school, Nicole spent the better part of two years in Maine’s courtrooms practicing criminal defense.

Originally from rural New Hampshire, Nicole now lives in southern Maine with her husband, dog and cats. Nicole spends her free time exercising, cooking and exploring the Maine restaurant scene. Nicole also volunteers on at the Homeless Animal Rescue Team (“HART”) in Cumberland, ME.
